1956 Mercedes 190 SL
- 1956 Mercedes 190 SL , Customised ( or butchered depending on your view / opinion ) with a Chevrolet 350 cu. V8 with automatic transmission and a U.S. rearend. ( I was told it's a 10bolt rear ) Now , VERY IMPORTANT : I WILL NOT SELL THIS CAR WITHOUT YOU OR YOUR AGENT OR SOMEBODY INSPECTING THE CAR FIRST.!!! I bought the car sight unseen ( big mistake , my butt still hurts ! ) and YOU should NOT. I value my excellent reputation and do not want to loose it over any car , especially one like this !
I found out the hard way that it's NOT the quality of car that I'm used to selling. I'm dumping the car at a loss , preferably to another dealer or at least someone who knows what he's buying, and has the knowledge and desire to tweak out this " Mercobra " or "Cobrenz " ATTENTION :This car was NOT done like a quality hotrod. Although body is a California dry - no rust - body , "the butcher " who ever he was , cut out the floorboards around the engine and rearend not too neatly. They did , however , re-inforce the stock frame to accomodate the transmission mounts and the rearend. Motormounts look strong. Rear suspension looks to be all stock , as does the front. The doors are wavy because who ever prepped it for paint did not block it correctly first. The car has some minor damage under where frontbumper would be - see picture - that needs to be fixed , and the hood has a major chip on the dr.side corner. Paintjob is not that great,it's shiny and all , but has some imperfections you can't see in the pictures. The top has a small tear in it on dr.side , and has NO latches to hook onto windshield. There are no wipers on car. Well, if you're still with me and did not click this item away , I'll tell you about the GOOD part : Engine runs very smooth , with no smoke and / or any noise, and tranny shifts fine. There must be a brake fluid leak somewhere , because after a couple of blocks , the brakes went to the bottom and brakefluid ran out.I'm having that fixed rightnow. Anyway , I was not too thrilled to drive it much further anyway ; she is screaming for powersteering ; a must add if you plan to enjoy this this beast. So...here it is..it is what it is , but it IS cool looking and I WILL let it go cheap. Bare in mind a good 190 SL of this vintage is worth between $40 - 60 K , and a parts car will sell for $10K..A Cobra is gonna run you from $25K and upwards..This car needs , but if you're handy , you can make it into something worth owning and have fun with , something NOBODY else wil have either ! Kinda like a Cobra / Mercedes mix..She'll really run too ! Well, I don't think I can be any more honest than I have been , if you like it , please make an honest offer ,( somewhere in the low-teens will buy this car ) and don't forget it DOES need to be inspected MANDATORY. Call me if you have questions , I'm on the road a lot , thanks. J.P. 954-5250600 p.s., I have a hardtop ( white ) laying around that should fit this car that I can sell you separately..
